100 years

What do Coca Cola, Kellogg’s, Harley Davidson, Barclays, Cadbury, Harrods, Tetley Tea, and CTC have in common? The answer is they are all brands that have been around for 100 years.

Granted, CTC may not be the first (or second, third, fourth – you get the point) to mind when listing companies which have celebrated their centenary; that is unless you work in the renewable energy industry, like us!

Aside from the creation of CTC, there were plenty of other things happening in 1923, such as the discovery of the burial chamber of Tutankhamun, the first outside broadcast by the BBC, the first game played at Wembley Stadium and the insulin becoming widely available for the treatment of diabetes.

So, CTC is in exceptionally good company.

Renewable energy heat pumps, for which the company has become synonymous for in recent years, may not have been on the minds of the founders (Celsius, Tellander and Clarin -hence CTC) back then, but what we do know is that they developed many ideas on heating, sanitation, and hygiene, as can be seen from all the patent applications that were filed.

It was only with Patent No 1,810,798, “Hot water supply system” in the late 1920s that the focus on heaters and boilers was to take off.

From there the company launched the first combi boiler (1952), air source heat pumps (1982), ground heat pumps (1999), and well, the rest is literally history.

Now, it is an international heating manufacturer providing renewable heating solutions across the globe and is at the forefront of innovation in the renewable energy industry.

That is why Go Geothermal are proud to be the sole UK supplier of CTC heat pumps and associated products – and we’re already on countdown to our centenary, in 2106 – there are plenty of technological advancements to come between now and then!
